Color me dissapointed…

without comments

Dr. Strange is getting his own flick? Out of all the Marvel characters in the Marvel universe – Dr. Strange? I’m sorry if I don’t share the excitement here, but I’d rather see “The Blob” star in his own vehicle. There are far more interesting characters that are flick-worthy, why not avoid disaster at this point. Marvel is on a high horse right now and I think therein lies the rub, they’re getting overzealous with all these character licenses, they’re like kids in a candy store. I mean, Iron Man was one thing, granted this is not a character as renowned as Spiderman or the Hulk, but he had somewhat of a following and let’s not discredit the great Robert Downey Jr. Marvel’s going to start shooting themselves in the foot by making shoddy business decisions like this. This is how empire’s decline in Hollywood. Why can’t they just stick to their already established property’s, like X-men or Howard the Duck?

Nasty

without comments

Talk about nasty … These designs are a poor attempt at being abstract, they’re anything but actually, these shoes are just plain ol’ flashy and tasteless. I had to post these horrific wonders for all to marvel at.

Back in early summer, Nike SB looked to influential Dutch painter Piet Mondrian as the inspiration behind a Dunk Low colorway. Rivals Vans has also referenced the abstractionist painter in this Vans Authentic pack. Mondrian’s trademark Composition style is best seen on the blue/red/white/yellow version although two other more understated colorways are also available. Look for these at select Vans dealers including FLAUGE.

Tropic Thunder getting Oscar push?

without comments

Why? If this happens the Oscar’s will lose all credibility.  But then again, Norbit was nominated last year. Never mind.

Paramount is going anything but “full retard”. Variety ran an article yesterday about the studio’s decision to push ‘The Soloist’ back to March. We covered this news. Check out that article here.

However, probably the most interesting piece of information in the Variety article was something that came as a throw-away line at the end.

“…the studio will now back an Academy campaign for his (Robert Downey, Jr.) supporting role in ‘Tropic Thunder’.”

Yes, Paramount is pushing for a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Downey. This is awesome news. The Best Supporting Actor category is routinely the most interesting award given at the Oscars. This year we will surely have Heath Ledger for ‘The Dark Knight’, and, now, it’s looking good for Downey to be in the mix, as well. Good on you, Paramount!
